Black History Month Tribute to the 1967 Stax/Volt European Tour

In 1967, Stax Records sent its top artists on their first-ever tour of Europe to introduce them to an international audience and to heighten awareness of “The Memphis Sound” being created at Stax Records. It became a critically acclaimed, legendary concert tour that changed both the lives of the artists and audiences forever and catapulted Stax into the international limelight, helping secure its place in history as one of the most influential record labels in the world.

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Stax/Volt European Tour and the Stax Music Academy’s 2017 Black History Month production at Minglewood Hall on February 24 will be a celebration of that tour, featuring the music of Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Booker T. & the MGs, Eddie Floyd, Carla Thomas, and Arthur Conley.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling 901-946-2513 ext 250.
