The Stax Music Academy was founded in 2000 to offer potentially at-risk students to have the type of amazing experiences that every child deserves. Now serving over 350 students annually from the Memphis and Shelby County area, the Stax Music Academy has truly taken its place as a worthwhile initiative. Click here to view timeline.
The Stax Music Academy was founded in a similar mindset to that of the original Stax Records many years ago. In the neighborhood known as Soulsville, USA, kids from any background were welcomed into Stax, and many of them became world-famous musicians. Barriers between black and white were broken, as everyone came together to celebrate a love for music! At the Stax Music Academy, students from all over Memphis and Shelby County again come together in the names of hard work, dedication, and, of course, music.
